Self-service printing kiosk: send the file from your phone by QR, pay instantly, print.
Context
My own product. It came out of a mundane problem: you need to print a document away from home, and the available experience is bad. It depends on an attendant, a USB stick, business hours, and an awkward negotiation about what is in your file.
Challenge
Self-service only works if nobody has to explain it. The user gets stuck on one step, gives up, and the kiosk becomes furniture. The entire flow, from upload to collection, had to fit in a few minutes, with no instructions and nothing to install. And unattended in-person payment needs a method that confirms itself, instantly.
Solution
I took the computer out of the equation: the file goes from phone to kiosk via QR code, no cable and no app. Payment runs on Pix with webhook confirmation, so the queue only moves once the money lands, with nobody checking.
Printing runs on a Windows agent separate from the API, converting Office files through headless LibreOffice before sending them to the printer. Separating the two means a jammed printer does not take the service down. On top there is a dashboard and a super-admin, because whoever runs several locations needs to see all of them without logging into each machine.
